Archery Only in the Movies

In 2010 Archery Only was recruited by “SKYWALKER STUDIOS” to work on the sound effects for some of the action firearms scenes for the movie “Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol”.

Working on the fire arm sound effects for this movie was a BLAST! And, spending time at the Skywalker Ranch Studios” in Marin County, CA. was truly epic.

We even had an impromptu “Cookie & Milk” break with the 2nd generation sound Guru Benny Burtt was priceless.

In 2011, Archery Only teamed up with Pixar Studios to work on the animated movie BRAVE.

Wayne Piersol, owner of Archery Only Inc., along with Patrick G. from Pixar Studios did all the archery sound effects. Both gentlemen along with Roger Brown “Blocked Out” the famous BRAVE Archery Tournament scene.

Paying very close attention to details, they blocked out Merida’s perfect shot sequence of arrow nocked, grip, anchoring, focus, release, and a perfect follow through. Brave was voted on YouTube for “Best Archery Scene” in the movies. This detail took Merida’s shooting form to the next level.

Working on an Academy Award Winning Movie and being invited to Pixar Studios for the movie’s Premier was truly a dream come true.

If you stay for the credits, you will see Wayne Piersol’s name appear under “Special Thanks”……
